Regional One Health’s High-Risk Obstetrics Program includes a Fetal Therapy Program that is life changing for many families. The providers perform laser procedures that can mean the difference between life and death for fetuses dealing with rare issues.

We are extremely careful in not giving our patients false hope or embarking them into a futile procedure with risks involved. Nevertheless, we use scientific evidence available to offer procedures that may be potentially life savers. Our team differentiates from others in the experience and skills that our members possess.

Our center emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach to fetal therapy. Consultation with several subspecialties per case is the rule rather than the exception. Such subspecialties include, but are not limited to: neonatology, pediatric surgery, neurosurgery, urology, ENT, plastic surgery, orthopedic surgery, cardiology, cardiac surgery, palliative care, radiology, ethics and child life, among others.

Such skills and training allow us to go beyond the routine in Maternal Fetal Medicine and offer procedures and therapies that are only available in very few centers in the country.

Fetal interventions and procedures include:

  • Laser for Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome
  • Treatment for TRAP
  • Fetoscopy
  • Placement of Shunts
  • Fetal transfusion
  • Cordocentesis
  • Vesciocentesis
  • Pleurocentesis
  • Amniocentesis
  • Chorionic Villus Sampling
  • Amniotic Band Syndrome intervention
  • EXIT procedures

The Fetal Therapy Program team works with referring physicians to help them take care of their patients. The Regional One Health team partners with those referring physicians as well as the patient to provide complete care. Our goal is to treat their patients, do the procedures they need us to do and get their patients back to them so they can continue care.
