Reginald W. Coopwood, M.D., President and Chief Executive Officer, joined Regional One Health in March 2010. Dr. Coopwood earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College and established a successful general surgical practice in Nashville. He served as the Chief Medical Officer at Nashville General Hospital at Meharry. Dr. Coopwood was named Chief Executive Officer at Metropolitan Nashville Hospital Authority in 2005, a position he held until joining Regional One Health in 2010. Dr. Coopwood possesses unique expertise in progressive healthcare management including extensive experience working with government stakeholders and health industry leaders. Dr. Coopwood has earned numerous honors for his work in healthcare, including being named one of Tennessee’s Healthcare Top 25 in 2007 and 2009; Memphis Magazine’s Who’s Who in 2010; and the Memphis Business Journal’s Health Care Hero in Administrative Excellence in 2011. Dr. Coopwood’s work at Regional One Health is complemented by his commitment to the health and well-being of the individuals in our community. He serves on the Boards of March of Dimes, Leadership Academy, QSource and Mid-South e-Health Alliance. Dr. Coopwood is also a member of the UTHSC Chancellor’s Advisory Board, Tennessee Hospital Association Board and an alumni of Leadership Memphis.
Sarah Colley, JD, MHA, PHR, is Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Regional One Health. In this role, Colley is responsible for personnel, recruitment, labor relations, training and development, and occupational health. Colley joined Regional One Health in 2013 after serving in Human Resources leadership positions at health systems in Little Rock, Arkansas for 8 years. Colley also practiced law in Arkansas, working for The Health Care Law Firm from 2002 to 2005. Colley earned her undergraduate degree from Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina; her Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas School of Law; and her Masters in Health Administration from Webster University, Little Rock Campus. She also holds a PHR Designation (Professional in Human Resources).
Susan Cooper, RN, MSN, FAAN, is the Chief Integration Officer and Senior Vice President of Ambulatory Services at Regional One Health. Appointed by Governor Phil Bredesen in 2007, Cooper served as the Commissioner of the Department of Health, State of Tennessee, for five years. In 2011, Cooper transitioned to the Governor’s Office, working on health and wellness related special projects. Before joining state government, Cooper was a faculty member and assistant dean at Vanderbilt’s School of Nursing. Cooper began her career as a nurse specializing in emergency and intensive care. Cooper earned her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.
Jackie Lucas is the chief information officer. Lucas has a broad background in healthcare and technology. Lucas has served as a senior executive of health systems and has held leadership and management positions in healthcare information technology, operations and finance in community, academic and children’s hospitals. Lucas is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives. She has served on advisory boards for multiple organizations including two Fortune 15 companies, AT&T and McKesson. Lucas earned a BBA from Lambuth University and an MBA from the University of Memphis
Bret Perisho is the vice president of corporate finance and chief business development officer at Regional One Health. In this role, Perisho is responsible for leading corporate finance, strategic business development and business growth center operational activities. His areas of oversight include the burn and wound care service line, rehabilitation and imaging services. Perisho works with the CEO and CFO to develop, assess and implement strategies for service and program growth within the health system. Perisho joined Regional One Health in 2011. His more than 35 years of healthcare experience includes finance leadership roles at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville and numerous healthcare consulting projects. Perisho earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting at Kansas State University. He is a certified public accountant, and his professional associations include American Institute of CPAs, Tennessee Society of CPAs, and Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Tammie Ritchey, CRFE, has served as the Executive Director of the Regional One Health Foundation since 2004. Prior to that she served as Development Director for Girls Incorporated of Memphis. She is a native Memphian, having graduated from Ridgeway High School and Rhodes College. Tammie did her graduate work at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Tammie is a Certified Fund Raising Executive, an internationally-recognized designation for philanthropic fundraising executives. She is a member of the Health Management Academy, the Association of Health Care Philanthropy, and the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Memphis Downtown Rotary Club, and a former President for Women of Achievement.
Lisa Cox Schafer, RN, MSN, NEA-BC, joined Regional One Health as senior vice president and chief nursing officer in May 2016. In this role, Schafer leads patient care services throughout the system including inpatient, outpatient and emergency nursing, as well as pharmacy, respiratory and dialysis services.
Schafer has worked in nursing management and leadership roles for more than 30 years in academic medical centers and community hospitals. Most recently, Schafer served as the vice president and chief nursing and operation executive for a 500-bed, two campus hospital in Scripps Health System in San Diego, California. She has held nursing leadership roles at Roper St. Francis Healthcare and the Medical University of South Carolina. Schafer also taught leadership to senior level nursing students for six years and worked as coach for the Studer Group.
Schafer earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of North Carolina and a Master of Science in Nursing Administration at the Medical University of South Carolina. In 2011, Schafer was appointed to the South Carolina State Board of Nursing, where she served as vice president and secretary of the board. She is certified as a nurse executive by American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and served on the Advanced Nurse Executive Certification Content Expert Panel from 2007 to 2014.
Tish Towns, FACHE, Senior Vice President, External Relations, has more than 20 years of experience in the public and private sectors, beginning her career in State Government with the Tennessee Departments of Human Services and Health. She began her career in healthcare management in the early 1990s and has served in senior executive roles in community not-for-profit, rural and urban academic delivery settings in Illinois, Georgia and South Carolina. Tish has a strong background in healthcare management and leadership. Her administrative responsibilities have included: support services operations, human resources management, medical staff services, guest services, pastoral care and community and government relations. A Memphis native, Tish received her Bachelor’s degree from Tennessee State University and her Master’s from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Certified in healthcare management, Tish is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), Delegate on the American Hospital Association (AHA) Regional Policy Board 4 and member of ACHE’s Management Series Editorial Board and Memphis Rotary. Her past service includes Chair, ACHE Examination Committee, 2009 ACHE Service Award Recipient, UAB Programs in Health Administration Board of Directors and AHA Metropolitan Hospitals Governing Council Nominating Committee.
Rick Wagers, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, has more than 30 years of professional experience in healthcare finance and worked at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for many years. Rick held the positions of Director of Financial Management, Vice President, and most recently, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Vanderbilt. He earned his Masters of Business Administration – Finance at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and undergraduate degree in accounting at Ball State University in Indiana. Rick is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and volunteers his time with the Tennessee Kidney Foundation and the Boy Scouts of America.
