UT Regional One Physicians is proud to introduce trauma surgeons Dr. Dina Filiberto and Dr. Richard Lewis to our practice.

Drs. Filiberto and Lewis are part of the team of trauma surgeons at the Elvis Presley Trauma Center, which is designated as a Level 1 Trauma Center in Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas. It’s the only Level 1 Trauma Center within 150 miles of Memphis.

Dr. Filiberto attended medical school at SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn in New York and completed her general surgery residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey. She completed her surgical critical care fellowship at University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

“I became a physician because I enjoy trauma and taking care of critically ill patients,” Dr. Filiberto shared.

Dr. Richard Lewis attended medical school at University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida, and completed his general surgery residency and surgical critical care fellowship at University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He received a master’s degree in War Studies at King’s College London.

“I enjoy trauma surgery because of the diversity of operations involved and the complexity of patient management,” Dr. Lewis said.

The team of trauma surgeons, anesthesiologists, trauma nurse practitioners, certified registered nurse anesthetists, nurses, respiratory therapists, orderlies, X-ray techs, lab techs and medical students have treated nearly 100,000 trauma patients over the last two decades at the Elvis Presley Trauma Center.
