Swapna Thota, MD

Swapna Thota, MD is a board-certified internal medicine physician in Regional One Health’s medical oncology division.

Dr. Thota received her medical degree from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India. She completed her residency in internal medicine from Fairview, Cleveland Clinic Health System, and her fellowship in hematology and oncology at Taussig Cancer Institute, Cleveland Clinic.

Currently, Dr. Thota is an assistant professor of oncology at University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She also served as an assistant professor in oncology at Roswell Park Center and University of Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Science.

Dr. Thota has received many honors and awards during her career for her exemplary work in the study of hematology, including the Top Doctor-Hematology in New York 2020. Her research has appeared in prestigious publications including Clinical Ovarian Cancer Journal, Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine and Clinical Genitourinary Cancer.

She serves on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network panel that sets treatment guidelines for Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
