Nikhil Gopal, MD is a board-certified urologic oncologist at Regional One Health. He treats all urologic malignancies and provides minimally invasive robotic surgery and open surgery.

Dr. Gopal earned his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. He completed a general surgery internship at Westchester Medical Center and a urology residency at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York, and completed a two-year fellowship in urologic oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland.

In his academic role, Dr. Gopal serves as an Assistant Professor in University of Tennessee Health Science Center Department of Urology. He is a member of the American Urological Association, Society of Urologic Oncology, and American Society of Clinical Oncology.

His research interests include bladder sparing approaches for high-risk non-muscle and muscle invasive bladder cancers, development of clinical and radiographic predictors to refine active surveillance for small renal masses, the role of anti-androgen treatment in localized prostate cancer, and characterization of prostate, kidney and bladder tumor biology in African Americans.

Dr. Gopal is the author of book chapters on surgical management of hereditary kidney cancer syndromes and urologic surgery in elderly patients, as well as numerous journal articles in publications including Abdominal Radiology, Urologic Oncology, Radiographics, and Urology.
