Gynecology and OB/GYN services at Regional One Health
Irene Peregrin-Alvarez, MD is a board-qualified obstetrics and gynecology physician at Regional One Health. She received her medical degree from University of Granada in her native Spain. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Virgen del Rocio University Hospital in Seville, Spain, where she also had sub-specialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
Dr. Peregrin-Alvarez completed her internship at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in affiliation with Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in New York City, after working in research at Washington University in St. Louis and the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. She completed her residency at University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.
Dr. Peregrin-Alvarez has extensive experience in reproductive endocrinology and fertility. While in medical school, she volunteered to provide medical care for underserved patients. During that experience she developed her interest in women’s health and pursued a residency in obstetrics and gynecology. Her residency training focused on pelvic and reproductive surgery and fertility preservation, specialties that remain her main areas of interest to this day.
Dr. Peregrin-Alvarez worked on the reproductive and fertility field for one of the main infertility centers in the country and was also involved in training residents and medical students in Spain as an assistant professor at University of Seville and Pablo de Olavide University.
She felt called to the medical field from an early age. “I am the first physician in my family, and I always thought the profession had chosen me. Since very early in my life I was amazed by nature and science, and I had a strong passion for learning and a desire to take care of others.”
It felt natural to use that desire to help others as a physician, Dr. Peregrin-Alvarez said. “I feel it is a privilege to be allowed to take care of other women by helping them through the process of becoming a mother, caring for their wellness, and recovering from disease when needed.”
Dr. Peregrin-Alvarez is fully bilingual in Spanish and English, and also speaks basic French.
Dr. Peregrin-Alvarez sees patients at our East Campus, 6555 Quince Road. For an appointment, call 901-515-3100.
