Emergency Medicine services at Regional One Health
Elizabeth Sykes, MSN, NP-C, is a family nurse practitioner at Regional One Health. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree from The University of Memphis. Sykes is also a certified advanced practice registered nurse.
“I became a nurse practitioner because I felt like the Lord was calling me to go back to school,” Sykes said. “I followed His lead and went back to school to better my education and push myself.” Sykes’ faith plays a role in how she assists and helps her patients, too.
“I want to be ‘the hands and feet’ of Jesus,” Sykes shared. “I want to take my skill set and help others. I want to make a difference in helping patients feel better about themselves and their health care.”
Before returning to school, Sykes worked as a registered nurse in the cardiopulmonary transplant intensive care unit and cardiovascular stepdown unit at a local hospital. “There is something really special about telling a patient they will be receiving a heart transplant that day,” Sykes said. “Those moments helped to motivate me to further my education and make a difference in the lives I touch and impact. I hope to continue to do so here at Regional One Health in the Emergency Department.”
