Colin Howden, MD is a physician at Regional One Health. Dr. Howden is the Hyman Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology at University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He received his medical degree from University of Glasgow and completed his internship in medicine at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and Stobhill General Hospital in Glasgow, Scotland.

Dr. Howden has been practicing medicine since 1978 and has been involved with GI practice in the United States since 1991.

A recognized expert in his field, Dr. Howden helped to develop national treatment guidelines for the American College of Gastroenterology.

His work has been published in numerous publications such as the American Journal of Gastroenterology, Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology, and Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology. In 2016, Dr. Howden was awarded the Golden Apple teaching award by the graduating class at University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Dr. Howden's research interests include clinical gastroenterology, acid peptic disorders, functional gastrointestinal disorders, and acid-suppressing drugs.
