Charles Plant, MD, Ph.D., physician at Regional One Health, is a board certified anesthesiologist skilled in working in trauma, high-risk obstetrics, neurosurgery and pediatrics age 2 and under. Dr. Plant is also certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine in clinical informatics.
He received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and then went on to complete both his internship and residency at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, all in Boston.
Dr. Plant also served as an assistant professor of anesthesiology at Vanderbilt University.
Prior to medical school, Dr. Plant earned a master’s degree in guidance and control engineering, which he used as an electrical engineer for the defense and aerospace industry. He worked for NASA, Marshall Space Flight Center and the U.S. Army Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal.
When asked why he became a physician, Dr. Plant responded, “I wanted my work to have meaning. Being a physician gives me that opportunity. And, it’s great to work around highly intelligent, motivated people from diverse backgrounds. Every day is different.”
He said he aims to think ahead when treating patients show he can focus on intervening on what is most important to the patient.
