Amanda Best, C-FNP, had a life-changing experience that put her on a nursing trajectory. Entering pharmacy school, she worked on a medical mission trip to Guatemala that made her reconsider her major. She switched to nursing as soon as she returned home. Best worked as a critical care nurse before pursuing her master's degree as a family nurse practitioner. "I can honestly say I love my job and that I feel I found my true calling," Best shared.

Best focuses on women's health, including annual exams, as well as disease prevention and health promotion by recommending appropriate screenings and promoting healthy lifestyle changes through diet and exercise. Best treats patients 14 and older, providing primary care and school/sports physicals, closing the gap where teens may have outgrown a pediatrician but are not ready for adult care.

At Regional One Health, Best feels she grows in experience and skill daily because she is exposed to new opportunities and needs that arise daily within her practice. "Change is the norm in the medical profession," Best said. "My sense of accomplishment comes from knowing I have had an impact on my patients, it is a humbling experience for me."
