Alaa Altahan, MD is a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist with Regional One Health Cancer Care. He specializes in the treatment of blood cancers.

Dr. Altahan earned his medical degree at American University of Beirut in Beirut, Lebanon. He completed his internal medicine residency and his hematology and oncology fellowship at University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. He is board-certified in medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine.

In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Altahan serves as an assistant professor of hematology/oncology at University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

His work has been published in various journals including JCO Precision Oncology, Journal of National Cancer institute JNCI, Proceedings of the National Academy of Science PNAS, Cancer Research, and more.

Dr. Altahan is a member of professional societies including American Society of Hematology and American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Dr. Altahan believes in treating the patient as a whole. He makes sure his patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options, including cutting-edge clinical trials, and strives to offer both expertise and support throughout a patient’s treatment journey.
