Crystal Walker, PhD, DNP, FNP-C, MSN is an assistant professor in the College of Nursing at UTHSC, where she received her PhD in Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice, and master’s in Nursing. She is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner.
“My desire to be involved in patient care was ignited by the relentless and selfless dedication of nurses I observed working with people who were living with HIV in Port Elizabeth, South Africa,” Walker shared. “The nurses opened my eyes to how profound we can be as a healthcare system when hardworking and compassionate people dedicate themselves to improving patient care.”
Because of her experience in South Africa, Walker continues to be inspired by immersing herself in research and practice. Walker’s work has been published in the Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care and presented at conferences in Tennessee, Florida, and Arkansas.
