Internal Medicine services at Regional One Health
Robert Morrison, MD is a physician at Regional One Health and a professor in the department of medicine at University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Dr. Morrison received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Denver, CO. Dr. Morrison went on to complete his fellowship in infectious diseases at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC.
“As a small boy, I loved science and my mom worked for the local town doctor, who I greatly admired,” Dr. Morrison shared. “I wanted to do good by helping people, combined with my love for science, and I worked to fulfill that ambition.” Dr. Morrison grew up during World War II and after graduating from medical school, he served in the United States Army for 20 years. While he was stationed, Dr. Morrison discovered his interest in adult medicine and infectious diseases. “Later, I became interested in medical education and became chief of medicine and program director in an Army training hospital.”
Dr. Morrison discovered he could do similar work in the civilian world and was fortunate to come to Memphis. Now, after almost 50 years of practicing medicine, Dr. Morrison is fulfilled like the local town doctor he grew up admiring. “I enjoy teaching young doctors and working with my colleagues, but I enjoy connecting with my patients while sharing ideas and discussing lifestyles,” Dr. Morrison said. “Medicine begins with the patient, stays with the patient, and ends with the patient.”
