Step 1: Ovulation Induction
Hormone injections help stimulate egg development, aiding in the production of more eggs than usual in one month. They also prevent premature ovulation.
Step 2: Egg Retrieval
During a minor outpatient procedure using small, hollow needles, eggs are trans-vaginally collected from the ovaries. They are then cultured in an incubator to protect them until insemination.
Step 3: Fertilization
Eggs are fertilized in a laboratory, usually through ICSI, especially if sperm is surgically removed. They are incubated for 18 hours before they’re assessed to see if fertilization was successful.
Step 4: Embryo Culture
The embryologist observes the embryos as they divide and grow to the blastocyst stage. It typically takes between three and five days for the embryos to be ready for transfer.
Step 5: Embryo Transfer
The embryo (or embryos) are placed into the uterus through a small catheter. After 10 days, the woman returns to take a blood test to see if she’s pregnant.

The financial burden of fertility treatment can discourage patients from pursuing the care they need and desire. The ARC Affordable Payment Plan™ provides financial assistance for fertility treatments, including IVF or IUI. Through the plan, patients may finance both medical services as well as pharmaceuticals, which can be 20-30% of the total expense. Additionally, ARC offers a refund guarantee, which returns a portion of the money spent if a patient does not have a baby at the end of care.
As an ARC-approved laboratory, Regional One Health has met all of the qualifications of their rigorous vetting process and is able to help patients find the fertility care package and financial assistance they need.
